Pool World moves to new Appleway location in CdA



Pool World's Coeur d'Alene store has moved to a new location at 745 W Appleway, near Lowes and Carpet One. The new location will provide more products and space to browse for home and backyard products such as hot tubs, in-ground swimming pools, water care and related accessory items, fitness systems, grills, saunas, outdoor accessories and more. The new location should be in full operation by April 1, and the existing CdA store location at 235 W Sunset will be closed around March 31.

Pool World is a locally owned, regional swimming pool and hot tub company that started operations in this area 40 years ago, in February 1976. During the last 40 years, they have expanded and now have 4 retail locations in Spokane and Coeur d'Alene. Spokane locations are Central Spokane 5701 E. Sprague near Lowe's/Costco, North Spokane 9111 N. Country Homes Blvd at the North Division Y, and Spokane Valley 13524 E Sprague near Evergreen Rd.

Rick Hosmer named Ad pro of the Year



Congratulations go out to Rick Hosmer, 2016 Ad Pro of the Year. Rick was honored at this year's AAF Spokane ADDY Awards Gala held at the Spokane Convention Center on March 11. For over 30 years, Rick has helped clients create, revive and re-imagine their brand and tell a story that matters to their customers. He is Partner and Chief Marketing Officer at Klundt Hosmer in addition to being an artist and illustrator. Rick plays a creative role in the brainstorming or early conceptual stages of a project. He has a knack for taking elaborate problems and turning them into ideas that are simple and resolvable. His creative solutions often rectify the internal issues clients are facing, and helps clients come to a consensus and alleviate some of their stress.

Outside of his work at Klundt Hosmer, Rick has served as a Spokane Arts Commissioner, AAF Spokane Vice President, Marketing Chair for the Inland NW Council Boy Scouts of America and ADDY judge for regional AAF competitions. Rick is an Eagle Scout, has climbed Mt. Rainier, and has traveled to Guatemala multiple times to build homes for widows and their families.


Lars Gilberts, new executive director of University District



The University District board of directors has named Lars Gilberts as the district's new executive director. He's a native of Clayton, Washington who most recently worked with Florida's United Way. He starts with the U District on April 28. The district was formed in 2009 to promote job growth, higher education, research, and urban living in 770 acres east of downtown along the Spokane River and Sprague Avenue.

First business opens in Deer Park's Industrial Park

Knight Construction & Supply celebrated the grand opening of their new facility in Deer Park's Light Industrial Park on March 23. Knight Construction, at 2401 East 6th Street, was the first business to break ground in the industrial park, soon to be followed by Avista.

Knight Construction & Supply, Inc was founded in 1968 and includes Knight EZ Dock and Knight Wall Systems. Knight EZ Dock is a distributor of EZ Docks and fabricates custom dock ramps. Knight Wall System manufacturers attachments systems for exterior wall cladding. Knight Construction specializes in industrial plants with a focus on dams and mines.

Cosmic Cowboy Grill to open in CdA



Cosmic Cowboy Grill, a 'gourmet healthy eating restaurant,' is set to open at 412 W. Haycraft Avenue and Highway 95 in Coeur d'Alene next month. They will offer locally sourced food for sandwiches, wraps, soups, bowls, desserts as well as vegetarian and vegan items. Some of the their menu items will be gluten free, Paleo and low-carb.

Designed by HDG Architecture of Spokane, the new restaurant, in the former spaces of a wig shop and a photo framing business, at the Appleway Square shopping center is being remodeled. The dining room is an open concept with orders cooked in full view of the customers.
