Exchange Publishing wins national awards, moving to new location



Spokane's Exchange Publishing which publishes the free weekly Exchange newspaper won the 1st Place 'Best of the Best' award from the North American Association of Free Community Newspapers. In addition, Ms. Sam Seay was named a Rising Star in the industry.

After 20 years, almost to the day, the Exchange, which is owned by Barbara Powers, is moving from their current 304 East Third location to a newly purchased building at 5111 East Trent. The new two-story building more than doubles the space for the 12 Exchange employees.

The Exchange, founded in 1978, is an independently owned newspaper with a weekly circulation of 80,750, in print and online regionally throughout Northeastern Washington and North Idaho. They also produce many other print products such as show guides for local events (such as Ag Expo), and their quarterly Equine magazine, Horse Previews.

Northern Quest RV Resort opens



The Kalispel Tribe opened the Northern Quest RV Resort this past weekend adjacent the Northern Quest Resort and Casino on the West Plains. The new RV resort offers 67 luxury, oversized standard and deluxe pull through RV sites, as well as one and two-bedroom cottages available to rent on-site. The resort also has its own pool and patio, fire pits, an exercise room, and a dog park.


Spokane Federal Credit Union (soon to be Canopy Credit Union) hires new VP



Spokane Federal Credit Union named Guy Ottersen VP of Member Experience & Lending. This is a new executive level position for the credit union. Ottersen was previously a Branch Manager at Numerica Credit Union.


Kimberly Thielman and Kathleen Rounds promoted at Asuris NW Health



Kimberly Thielman has been promoted to Assistant Director of Sales Enablement serving all five of Asuris' affiliated health plan brands in Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and Utah.

Kathleen Rounds has been promoted to Manager of Asuris' Small Business Unit (SBU), which serves customers under two affiliated health plan brands in Washington. She has served as the supervisor of this team for several years and this is a well-earned recognition of her commitment and leadership of that team.


The Blissful Whisk Bakery opens in Spokane Valley



As reported by Inland NW Business Watch, the Blissful Whisk bakery has opened in a newly constructed building at 1612 N. Barker (at Mission) offering baked goods ranging from muffins and eclairs, brownies and more, with some vegan and gluten free options available. They also offer a full coffee and espresso menu, that includes Lotus Energy drinks.

Numerica Credit Union hires new Branch Managers



Numerica Credit Union recently hired Missy Budge as their Sprague Branch location as Branch Manager. She has over 10 years of experience in the financial industry, most recently at Mountain West Bank where she was a Branch Manager as well. Budge earned her bachelor's degree from Eastern Washington University. She specializes in Consumer Lending and Credit Building/Rebuilding.

Jessica Chavolla has also been hired as Branch Manager of their Hayden Branch. She has over nine years of experience in the financial industry, most recently at First Interstate Bank where she was Retail Manager II. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Idaho and her MBA from Columbia Southern University. Her areas of expertise include Consumer Lending, Credit Building/Rebuilding, and Small Business Lending.


Spokane Score workshop this Wednesday

Spokane SCORE Chapter 180, has a workshop on How to Start a Business, this Wednesday, June 5 from 9am-12noon. Learn tips on legal, tax, insurance, accounting, business planning and funding topics which need to be addressed to successfully start a business.
