Satori Dance Studio celebrates Grand Reopening

Satori Dance Studio, a multicultural center for dance, language, and arts in Spokane, announces its grand reopening this summer at 122 S. Monroe Street. Satori has been in operation for a year. In that time, it has fostered an enthusiastic community of dancers, two-left-footers, beginning and fluent language speakers, and artists who gather, sometimes several times a week, to interact with others who are passionate about other cultures.

Owner Victor Smith notes that people rarely visit only once. He observes that often, people are interested in the music behind the Latin dance styles, salsa and tango are the most popular. But exposure to the music often leads to an interest in the language and other cultural elements that can be hard to find elsewhere in Spokane.

The website is satori.salsa-dance-spokane.com and the phone number is 360-550-5106.

Quality lawn care is a SNAP for Organic Micro-Cut

When it comes to quality lawn care, Corey Thorpe understands that it takes effort and attention to stay a cut above the competition. Thorpe launched Organic Micro-Cut six years ago with a goal of providing a level of customer service that was second to none. Traits like honesty, integrity and responsiveness topped the list of priorities for his new company. If a sprinkler goes out, for instance, someone from Micro-Cut is on site that day to replace it. Since the business began, Thorpe has not lost any of his weekly lawn mowing customers to poor service. Recently, a former client who had left for Seattle moved back to the Spokane area and called Corey to make sure Micro-Cut could take care of the yard surrounding his new home.

In addition to an emphasis on conscientious customer care, Organic Micro-Cut has developed a market niche by offering lawn maintenance utilizing an approach that features chemical-free fertilizer and other eco-friendly products. Corey also provides the option of conventional products. Before he uses a product on the yard of any client, Corey makes it a point to try it first on his own lawn.

Thorpe said SNAP Financial Access was there to support him at a time when the venture was just starting out. The micro-enterprise loan helped Micro-Cut get started on the right foot with the purchase of necessary equipment like a trailer, truck and mowers. SNAP also connected Corey with educational resources promoting green practices as advice on starting and succeeding as a business owner.

As for the future of Micro-Cut, Corey said he would like to establish more of a presence in North Idaho next year. Looking back, he expresses appreciation for a program that saw the potential in a lawn-care business that refuses to cut corners.
